Heesen Atina Refit
Initially built in 2008, 47m. Heesen M/Y ATINA is now in the Aegean Sea. An extensive refit by FDC Yachts in Turkey. Major exterior design and new interior styling touch by Red Yacht Design.

Design Story

When glanced from outside, the most striking change is the extension of the hardtop, making it more nicely proportioned to its mass and a brand new modern design to the mast. Red has worked meticulously to stay true to the yacht’s exterior lines and blend in, making this new design. Round glass separator doors and side windows were added to the hardtop to sit and relax comfortably in windy weather. Apart from blocking the wind, these new additions also offer more privacy from view.

Sun Deck, which holds the most important place for the owner among open decks, has been completely redesigned. Red has brought a new interpretation to the forward pool area, enlarging the pool and making the sunbeds more comfortable and convenient. The most significant change in this area is the 12-seat bar placed in the heart of the Sun Deck. In addition to being fully equipped, this bar can host BBQ parties and watch sports events thanks to the newly added TV. The bar has been specially arranged so that the owner can work at the bar away from the circulation of the crew.

The sound system has been updated to give the guests a real party sound and feel the music. The aft area, which was left completely empty and decorated with sun loungers before, has been thoughtfully and flexibly redesigned with sunbathing and lounge areas, where the owner and his family can spend joyful moments with their guests. The whole deck is designed with an unusual and extraordinary approach, as a single space connected by the colossal bar in the center.

Going down towards sea level, the bridge deck aft lounge is comfortable and spacious enough to host 12 people for al-fresco dinners. This is the family and friends area for hanging out during and after dinners. The existing seating and the storage units were not very convenient anymore, so their form and arrangement were redesigned; thus, a more spacious lounge area was created. Contrast and timeless color combinations are reflected in the area following the owner’s taste. The wet bar, which occupies a large volume in the corner, has been removed from its place, giving a lighter appearance and making it more useful for the crew and the guest. The foredeck was renewed to store the jet-skis so that the garage could be converted to a casual beach club.

Interior

Red Yacht Design gave the yacht’s interiors a new touch by making layout, loose furniture, and upholsteries studies. The most considerable effort was spent revising the upper salon to adapt to the family’s lifestyle. Red Yacht Design started their work by examining and improving the general arrangement and then carefully selecting or designing the loose furniture to go along with this arrangement.

The owner became Red’s most prominent collaborator with his limitless interest in yachts and the excitement he shared at every process stage. All the progressive design work that Red has done with respect for the spirit of the yacht will be combined with FDC Yacht’s management and shipbuilding expertise.
